This will be a two parted message to be continued on August 10th, 2022

Genesis 2:18-24 “And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.”

I follow a preacher named Dan Mohler on YouTube. His messages are so inspiring and Spirit filled. I recently listened to a sermon by him that gave me something to truly think about.

Have you ever considered that Adam was not lonely? When we read that God said it was not good for Adam to be alone and so He made Him a help meet for him… I had always just looked at this through earthly eyes and assumed that Adam was lonely, incomplete, so God made him a companion, a helper, BUT Adam walked with God. He walked with God in the cool of the day. Adam was most certainly NOT lonely. Adam was filled with God! He was in the presence of God in the garden. What then was God up to?

Let’s look at this question: What was God’s purpose in creating man? God had formed man out of the dust of the ground and breathed His life into Adam. Everything that was in God, God had now put into Adam. Adam was created to have dominion and authority, to express God’s nature. He was created in God’s own image, so that God’s life and character would be put into man. When God created Adam, He was looking for a way to express Himself, to multiply Himself. And remember, God is Love, therefore, God created man as a way to express and manifest LOVE. God had successfully accomplished this in Adam.

God looked at Adam and said, this man is now full of Me, he is the express image of Me, but He recognized a problem. Adam now had the same problem that God had before He breathed His life into Adam… Adam had yet no way to manifest himself, no way to multiply himself, no way to multiply the nature of God. Therefore God said, it is not good that this man is alone, he doesn’t have anywhere to go with who he is! How could Adam fulfill the first law of creation in Genesis, that everything was to produce seed after its own kind? How could he fulfill seed time and harvest time? He didn’t have anywhere to sow his seed, he had nowhere to multiply. Adam did not have anyone to love, anyone to manifest God to, He has no one to be tender mercied and kind towards. He has nobody to express God’s nature to. God could not have this! It was not because Adam was lonely. Adam was full of God! How could one ever be lonely when full of God? No, it was not loneliness or the need for a helper that brought about Eve.

So God put Adam sleep, reached in to the fullness of God (in man) and brought out Eve. He took what was one and made it two. We find in Ephesians 5:28 “So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.”

What an honor! God said: Hey Adam, you can be like me… Adam, I am giving you an opportunity to be like me. Just as I took you from Myself as an opportunity to love you, now you also have flesh of your flesh, bone of your bone…to love her.

He then said “Be fruitful and multiply” this was not only telling them to have children and fill the earth. The point was for them to multiply Love, create more humans to Love, more vessels to manifest God’s image into. We are called to LOVE. We are to manifest and multiply LOVE. This is our calling, this is our purpose. This was God’s simple plan for us all along. This is why we were created, to manifest God’s image and our God is LOVE.

We must never forget this. God created us to love us and He gave us the opportunity to multiply so that we can love eachother. If we can reach the depth of the understanding of this seemingly simple concept I believe we would reach the heart of the matter. We are simply to be loved and to love.

Two secular songs came to mind as I wrote this, you may recognize them. The lyrics go: “I don’t know much, but I know I love you, and that may be all I need to know. And that may be all there is to know.” And also: “The greatest thing you’ll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return”

The Lord make His face shine upon you today. Be blessed!
